The Sydni Drink

Our honeymoon suite at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios had a legit mini-bar in it. And since our room was concierge-level, everything in it was free! And that meant that we were allowed to take home anything we wanted! So we snagged the bottles of rum and whiskey, since we don't really drink drinks with vodka or gin very often.
Since we've been home we've made a few mixed drinks here and there, but pretty much just either rum and coke or whiskey and coke. Our favorite mixed drink together is probably a whiskey sour, so recently we decided we should buy some lemon juice and try to make one. Whit underestimated the power of lemon juice (he thought it was more like lemonade), so the proportions were a little off.
One of my favorite drinks growing up was a Shirley Temple, and the other night I tried someone's Dirty Shirley, which I really liked...a mixed drink made from a childhood favorite - awesome! I picked up some grenadine and sprite to make one at home. We figured out that the drink is actually made from vodka, which we don't have. We searched online trying to find a drink with just rum, grenadine, and sprite, but never found one, so we made up our own! The drink is SO delicious. It has just the right amount of flavor and doesn't taste so alcoholic. It will be the perfect summertime drink...especially on a snorkeling trip (way better than rum and punch). Since we could never find a recipe for it online, we just call it The Sydni Drink, since it's so summery and yummy. It also goes perfectly with my new specialty - vegetable quesadillas! Come over sometime and we'll make you one! :)
(PS the picture at the top is because the drink is coral-colored, and since when you drink it it reminds me of being at the beach, I put up that picture - enjoy!)
